Yesenia Sotelo was named after a Spanish-language soap opera from the 1970s. She lives in the Andersonville neighborhood of Chicago with her partner Rachel and their pet-children Moses, Oreo and Noah. She is 30 years old.

Having been born and raised in Chicago, and being a graduate of Northwestern University, she is strongly attached to Chicago, the Midwest, and the region’s progressive values.

Yesenia is Heartland Alliance’s first Manager of Interactive and New Media. Yesenia has worked for nonprofits since 2001 in technology, development, communications and advocacy.

She also serves as the Executive Co-Chair for the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Chicago, as a Technology Consultant to the national board of the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network, and is a member of the Nonprofit Technology Enterprise Network.
