About Yesenia

Yesenia Sotelo was named after a Spanish-language soap opera from the 1970s. She lives in the Andersonville neighborhood of Chicago with her wife Rachel and their pet-children Moses, Oreo and Noah. She is 30 years old.

Having been born and raised in Chicago, and being a graduate of Northwestern University, she is strongly attached to Chicago, the Midwest, and the region’s progressive values.

Yesenia is Director of New Media at Jasculca/Terman and Associates, a strategic communications firm. She previously served as Heartland Alliance’s first Manager of Interactive and New Media and as Director of Technology and Membership for the ACLU of Illinois. Yesenia has worked for nonprofits since 2001 in technology, development, communications and advocacy.

She also serves as the Executive Co-Chair for the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Chicago and is a member of the Nonprofit Technology Enterprise Network.
